Nursing for the Registered Nurse - Adult-Gerontology (BSM/MSN)

Licensed RNs enter with 30 credits of nursing knowledge

The Psychiatric Nursing specialization is not currently enrolling students. Please refer to the Family Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialty.

Curriculum


University Requirements


  • ENGL 110 - Critical Reading and Writing (minimum grade C-) 3 credits
  • First Year Experience 0-4 credits
  • Discovery Learning Experience (DLE) 3 credits
  • Multicultural Course 3 credits
  • University Breadth Requirements 12 credits
    • Creative Arts and Humanities 3 credits
    • History and Cultural Change 3 credits
    • Social and Behavioral Sciences 3 credits
    • Math, Natural Sciences, and Technology 3 credits

Major Requirements


23 credits, to include a minimum of one course in each of the following five categories: (1) biology, (2) microbiology, (3) chemistry, (4) anatomy and physiology, and (5) nutrition

  • English course (second English composition course) 3 credits
  • Psychology course 3 credits
  • Lifespan development course 3 credits

Core Courses for both the CNS and NP Specialties


For the CNS specialties:


An additional twelve credits from within one of following Clinical Nurse Specializations:

Total Credits Required Clinical Nurse Specialist: 135


After required courses are completed, sufficient elective credits must be taken to meet the minimum requirements
