Program Requirements:
The Doctor of Philosophy in Disaster Science and Management requires 42 credits of graduate-level coursework beyond the master’s degree including nine credits of dissertation.
Students are expected to demonstrate expertise in four core areas:
- Social Science of Disaster
- Science and Engineering of Disaster
- Management, Planning, and Leadership
- Methods and Tools
The 42 credits of courseswork are specified in the individual planned program of study and must include the minimum number of credits in each core area as identified below. In the case where a student has taken the courses below at the MS-level, alternative courses may be approved through the plan of study by the adviosr and program director.
Social Science of Disaster:
Nine credits selected from the following list (at least three credits must be beyond the introductory level):
Science and Engineering of Disaster:
Six credits from the following:
Management, Planning, and Leadership:
One of the following:
