The History Department offers several options to its undergraduate students. In addition to the regular major, students can choose a concentration in American, European, or World history. In conjunction with the College of Education and Human Development, it offers a History Education program for those choosing careers as secondary school social studies teachers. Concentration options are available for all majors. Collaboration with the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures has resulted in a major combining languages with the history of the regions in which those languages are spoken. Honors Degree options are available for all majors and concentrations. The department also maintains an advisory program for prelaw students majoring in history.

The Department encourages interdepartmental or double majors that enable a student to develop competence in two areas, such as history and art history, or history and literature. A Degree with Distinction is also possible. An advisor in the History Department can provide details.
